Lindsay Rowe, DC, MD, DACBR is Associate Professor of Diagnostic Radiology for the University of Newcastle in Newcastle, Australia and Adjunct Professor for the School of Chiropractic at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia. Dr. Rowe also serves as a Specialist Radiologist for the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and a Consultant Radiologist for Pittwater Imaging of Gosford, Australia. Dr, Rowe is best known in the chiropractic community as the co-author of the texts, Radiology Study Guide, Essentials of Skeletal Radiology and The Foot and Ankle:Clinical Applications. Dr. Rowe is a former associate professor of radiology at Northwestern College of Chiropractic and Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Canada.
Dan Murphy, DC, DABCO graduated magna cum laude from Western States Chiropractic College in 1978 and later managed and treated thousands of spinal trauma cases while in full time clinical practice. A widely respected teacher and speaker Dr. Murphy has the ability to hold the interest and attention of his audience, from students to experienced practitioners, because he challenges their intelligence and his material is always new and up-to- date Currently in part-time practice, Dr. Murphy was elected Vice President of the International Chiropractors Assocation in 2003. He is also the chair of ICA’s International Symposium on the Science, Art and Philosophy of Chiropractic to be held in Athens, Greece, in November of this year.
Guy Riekeman, DC is an internationally recognized speaker whose spirited messages for 17 years has affected the lives and practices of thousands of his colleagues. He is passionate about chiropractic and has an unique ability to motivate others to aspire to excellence. Dr. Riekeman served as the seventh president of Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa and all three schools under the Palmer University System until March 2004, when he became president of Life University in Marietta, Georgia.
Carol Phillips, DC is considered chiropractic’s expert on cranial sacral techniques for children and pregnant women. Her passion for this field is evident in her lectures, and it is not surprising to hear her hobby is providing labor support for her pregnant patients. Her book/ DVD Hands of Love demonstrates how mothers and birth attendants can work together to create an environment that honors the power of creation and the miracle of birth. Dr. Phillips is a former Assistant Professor in Pediatrics and Clinician for the Center for Clinical Studies at Northwestern College of Chiropractic.
Joan Fallon, DC, FICCP is well-known as a “pediatrics” practitioner and has been in practice in New York since graduating from Palmer College in 1986. She has gained visibility and credibility for chiropractic pediatric care by interacting with non-chiropractic colleges/universities, sitting on interprofessional committees and boards and taking every opportunity to speak before non-chiropractic professionals about chiropractic for children. She has written several research papers the most significant on the efficcacy of the chiropractic adjustment on 332 children with otitis media. Dr. Fallon is chair of the ICA Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics and one of the instructors for the pediatrics diplomate program.
Peter Fysh, DC, FICCP is an internationally recognized author and lecturer on chiropractic pediatrics. A graduate of the Phillips Institute and a native of Australia, Dr. Fysh served as a Professor in Pediatrics at Palmer-West for several years. He is a full-time practice in Sunnyvale, California. Author of the landmark publication, Chiropractic Care for the Pediatric Patient, published in 2002, Dr. Fysh is Vice Chair of the ICA Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics and the editor of the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics (JCCP). Dr. Fysh’s papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals and he is the original creator of the now often heard phrase, “Kids Need Chiropractic Too.”
F. Ed Yazbak, MD, FAAP is a pediatrician in Falmouth, Massachusetts, retired in 1999 after 30 years in practice. As Chief Medical Officer in Woodsocket, Rhode Island, he was responsible for carrying out all immunization mandates in the schools in that area. Since 1999 his primary interest has been focused on the possible relationship between vaccines and the development of autism in children. Research Director of the Autism Autoimmunity project, Dr. Yazbak’s work includes research on the relationship between revaccination of women with live virus vaccines and the development of autism in their children, and the autoimmune cases of autism.
Lora Tanis, DC, DICCP is passionate about two things–chiropractic and kids. A mother of two, she loves caring for children, from infants to toddlers and teenagers. A private practitioner in New Jersey, Dr. Tanis brings to her lectures this passion plus her advanced learning in pediatrics and her experience caring for pregnant women and children, including kids with special needs. A graduate of Palmer College, Dr. Tanis was among the first group to get her Diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics. She currently serves as the Secretary of the ICA Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics and is an instructor for the ICA Pediatrics Diplomate Program.
Andrew DeSaro, DC, DICCP is a 1998 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic with a family wellness practice in Pennsylvania. Dr. DeSaro earned his Diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics in 2003. He became a certified Emergency Medical Technician in 1992 and a BLS Instructor for the American Heart Association, and the National Safety Council in 1999. Dr. DeSaro serves on the Volunteer Fire Company in his community and often speaks to area organizations, corporations and special interest groups.
Anthony Rosner, PhD is Director of Research and Education for the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER), which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2004 making it the oldest chiropractic research-funding institution in the world. Dr. Rosner earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Harvard University and has served in various capacities with Children’s Hospital in Boston, along with Beth Israel Hospital and Tufts Medical School also of Massachusetts. Widely recognized for his expertise in research methodology, Dr. Rosner has written a monograph on “Infant & Child Chiropractic Care: An Assessment of Research.”
Christine Anderson, DC, DICCP graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1989 from Cleveland Chiropractic College-Los Angeles and earned her Diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics in 1997. Her contributions to the book I Got Pregnant, You Can Too written by a chiropractic patient, has helped women understand that there are many different reasons why they are not able to conceive. A mother of three, Dr. Anderson runs a successful family practice in Los Angeles and she is active at the local YMCA where is a pre/postnatal fitness instructor and helps women develop a fitness program before and after delivery.
Wesley Sheader, DC, DICCP is a 1996 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and a private practitioner in Grand Junction, Colorado. Dr. Sheader earned his Diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics in 2001 and has presented case studies at the 2002 and 2003 International Conference on Chiropractic & Pediatrics. His papers have been published in the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics and the Australian Journal of Chiropractic and his poster presentation was included at the 24th World Congress of Applied Psychology in 1998. Dr. Sheader has been an active spokesperson for the profession in his local community, including a weekly health segment on KREX news from 1998-2000.
Sharon Vallone, DC, FICCP loves to teach. She has an enormous capacity for giving and spends a great deal of time traveling to and from Kentuckiana Children’s Center in Louisville, currently serving as Chair of its Board of Directors. She has traveled to countries in Europe and the Far East at the invitation of chiropractic associations in those countries to either speak about the effectiveness of chiropractic care for mothers and children or to help with establishing children’s centers. A founding member of the ICA Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics, Dr. Vallone became a Diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics in 1998 and was named a Fellow of the Council in 2003. A private practitioner in Connecticut, Dr. Vallone is also one of the instructors for the Pediatric Council’s Diplomate program.
Sharon Penchina, C.Ht. is a graduate of the SW Institute of Healing Arts and a Certified Hypnotherapist. She has worked with hundreds of clients in private and group settings in the areas of smoking cessation, weight loss, immune system boosting, anti-aging, sleep and personal/professional empowerment. As President of 2 Imagine, Sharon has produced health/wellness and personal empowerment books and cd’s to help clients utilize their conscious mind to direct the subconscious/unconscious minds to advance them toward their individual goals. Her most recent work is the I Am A Lovable Me! children’s empowerment book/cd series designed to help boost children’s confidence and self-esteem.
Stuart Hoffman, DC is a 1981 graduate of Life Chiropractic College and president of ChiroSecure, ICA’s malpractice insurance company. During his years in practice, Dr. Hoffman guided families on their journey toward optimum health and now serves as a direct consultant to doctors. Dr. Hoffman is a contributing writer to the Chiropractic Choice newspaper and ICA Review magazine, published by the ICA. A devoted father of three boys, his latest venture as co-founder of 2 Imagine has enabled him to create personal and professional empowerment tools for adults and children which underscores his twenty-year passion for assisting others to achieve wellness.
