Background
The Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics is one of the specialty departments of the International Chiropractors Association and its primary objective is to provide superior postgraduate education in pediatrics to the doctor of chiropractic so they have the knowledge and skills to provide care to infants and children that is effective, always safe, clinically appropriate and of a high professional standard. The Council also promotes and encourages credible research in this field.by holding research symposiums and publishing a research journal. By providing doctors of chiropractic with a special interest in caring for children and pregnant women with the educational opportunities, resources, and support, the Council helps to improve the care of this special patient population.
Through a Board Certified Diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics, seminars, conferences and symposiums, the Council helps to maximize the professional fulfillment of the doctor of chiropractic who needs and/or wants to learn more about chiropractic pediatric care. The Council is committed to advancing research in chiropractic pediatrics and pregnancy and publishes the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics, the only chiropractic peer-reviewed journal in the world focused specifically on pediatrics. It also provides opportunities for DCs and others health care professionals who co-manage care of patients with DCs to share thier findings at these conferences and symposiums with paper presentations.
Through the development and dissemination of patient education materials, the Council endeavors to educate the public about the safety, efficacy, and appropriateness of chiropractic care from infants to adolescents. Through its Membership Referral Directory the Council provides a valuable resource for parents or women looking for a chiropractor who is either Board Certified in Chiropractic Pediatrics, cares for pregnant women, or has a family practice.
